In addition to the standard 3 year training, we agreed, after discussions with the SHUMAS team in Cameroon, to sponsor some students for a 1 year Nursing Assistant course. We quickly found that this 1 year course was not sufficient to prepare nurses for rural practice. From 2011 onwards we only sponsored the 3 year course.
